It's Not Easy Reading Green
For a while now, I have been trying to figure out how my love of paper crafts (scrapbooking) and the printed word (books & magazines) fits into the recycling/green movement.
I don't like to scrapbook digitally (I admire you if you can do it) - I love playing with paper and putting my hands on it. Switching out cardstock and pattern, twirling ribbon, and rearranging scraps relaxes me.
I like the deliberateness of sitting in a comfy chair to break in a new title with my coffee nearby, which is why I don't plan to do my reading by computer screen.
Finally, I found eco-libris - a website and blog for reading green. I applaud their efforts to educate, inform, and mostly to plant. $1=1 book=1tree Its very simple and I like simple.
The End.
I love the smell of paper. I love the feel of paper. I don't think anything can replace scrapping with glue, paint and paper or curling up in your favorite spot to read a book. I'm all for going green but I NEED my life little pleasures.

I love paper too. But I usually recycle the scrapbook paper scraps, recycle any magazines/catalogs that come in the mail (or cancel the sub). Books are harder for me, because I love the sound of flipping paper, the smell of an old book...right now I am trying to only just go to the library for my reading fixes.

Mel,
It's very GREEN to read books from the library as they get recycled over and over. And you're doing a great job at that!

Joni
