10 on Tuesday...Back to Life Edition

1. We just returned from a most wonderful and restorative time at the beach. Here is the dude crew:

 
2. Evie is almost 4 months old. How can that be?  She's working on rolling over and losing hair, progressing in both areas. Happy as ever.

 
3. Owen told his teacher the best part of vacation was looking for sea glass. That was a mama & boys activity and he really had an eye for it. As in

mama: let's look for sea glass

Owen: (bends over) like this?

mama: um, yeah.

Owen: and this?

mama: uh huh.

I spent 3 days finding my first piece. Right. 

4. Part of the loveliness that was our vacation included mama reading LOTS. I finished:

4. I'm excited that my favorite children's book "trilogy" is now a board book set. This is my new go-to baby gift.

5. This year we did not have our traditional bag o' books. The Kindle at work. We did have the technology tote...a sign of the times I suppose. Yeesh.

6. Speaking of Kindle...they are down to $259.

7. Ready for October and all that it brings - even the sweater weather. I must admit I didn't expect it immediately, but cold mornings are jolting us back to reality. And I'm back to hot coffee and lots of it.

7. While away we discovered there is a name for when you learn something and then it seems like its everywhere - Baader Meinhof Phenomenon. And now you'll hear Baader Meinhof Phenomenon at every turn....tee hee.

8. How about another Evie? just because.

9. Can someone explain Tumblr to me?  I'm seeing it, and it looks cool. Is it like an online bulletin board?

Hitting the Books

Back to School and First Day of Kindergarten and Day One of Evie & me - we made it, tired but intact.

If you are wondering what happened to the Owen - he was riding his bike and his face met the pavement. It was much worse 5 days before this....we are thankful he is ok, but what a way to spend your first day of school EVER. All 7 stitches came out on Friday - yippee!!)

Evie @ 10 weeks. The time is a flying, I still sometimes forget I'm not pregnant. She's a peach.

she's 2 months old already! and her room is finally finished enough for pictures...

Her dresser/changing table is in the closet, but i admit to using the bed for dressing & diapering.
We left the queen size bed in the room, but turned it sideways so it is an extra large day bed- i'm still working on getting pillows and art for the giant wall behind the bed.

She definitely has the most fun room in the house.

Why I Don't Read Anymore...

 

Okay, that may be a bit of an exaggeration...but I haven't finished a book, or any other minor tasks in a while. I am working my way through a few library books and some ARC commitments, but I have a good stack of fluff that I'm looking forward to reading.

And for those of you that think Evie looks like Owen in a dress...we see it too.

Here is one of my favorite Evie gifts - bookplate stickers!  So sweet -  I'm saving one for a scrapbook page.

Still Livin' Large

Can it be almost a month since I posted here?  I have authored many a blog post in my mind - some about baseball, some books, some about the baby who is yet to arrive. In an effort to play a little catch up, here's the month in review:

BABY

• baby's room is 90% finished  - have to hang a few more pictures, clear the last couple of junk piles, and wait on a chair to get delivered - will post pictures very soon

• she has a name - some of you know, the rest will have to be patient

• i'm wandering  waddling around at 4cm, she is taking her own sweet time...

• from the latest sonogram pictures I think she looks like Caleb - Ernie head & big cheeks

• thanks to the genorosity of friends and family - her closet is full of adorable things and her bookshelf is full

BOOKS

• reviews for  The Lost Hours and April & Oliver on the feed

• went to an Amy Krouse Rosenthal book reading/signing and it was delightful - not only did she sign our books, but she shared where she got her cool shoes, which are now my cool new shoes - i got the pink www.alegriashoeshop.com

• it is with much shame that i admit to not having mailed my June Reading Round Robin book - for the rest of you slackers - get thee to the post office!!

• anyone have a summer reading list? do tell.
