The Paper Pear is featured as part of a delightful contest over at one of my favorite blogs The Redeemed Reader. Emily and Janie do an excellent job of separating the wheat from the chaff in the sometimes confusing world of children and young adult literature. Not only am I inspired to think critically about what my kids are reading, I am reminded to examine my choices as well. I highly recommend their blog for thoughtful and considered book recommendations, discussion, and awesome giveaways! (wink)

Happy New Year...Let's Look Ahead

The dudes are finally back at school and the hubs started a new job today. I'm planning to put away the Christmas decorations and Evie is planning to continue in cuteness.  I have a lot of plans for you and me too, but here is the month ahead on lit*chick...

• A new feature - see the Tidying Up the Stacks sidebar?  Those are books I am giving away...just request one (or all) and I'll be happy to send them to you. Some I've read, some I haven't but they are taking up valuable shelf space and need a new home.

• Blog Talk Radio - Nicole from Linus's Blanket will be interviewing me on February 2nd for That's How I Blog. Besides q&a, we'll be discussing The Unit - if you get a chance to read it, we can have a little audio bookclub. More details to follow...I'm really excited to participate in this fun book blogger interview series.

Congratulations to annechovie, friend to this blog and gifted artist - one of her fabulous chair prints can be seen (i saw it and shrieked in recognition)in the movie It's Complicated. Read more about it here.

My December Daily project totally bit the dust. I had no printer ink and lost steam after the first week...I don't think I'm capable of doing anything daily, except reading and drinking coffee.

I've started taking Elizabeth's Inspiration Defined class at Big Picture Scrapbooking - I think you can still sign up until midnight TONIGHT. And I am enjoying having a no pressure creative outlet. So what are you waiting for?

I am still thinking through my reading goals for this year...I read 110 books last year. Some great, most okay. So I'm definitely looking to improve the quality (my constant struggle). I'm also looking to streamline the review process so I can talk about everything I read, quickly. Because really, don't you just want to know if you should bother or not?

If you haven't already noticed, I am trying to respond to most of your comments in the comments section, in case you wondered why you haven't gotten emails lately....

I'm still here...just worn down from a nasty chest cold and a couple crazier than usual weeks. Bookclub questions for both Olive Kitteridge and Tethered will go up later today. And I'm putting some spit & polish on reviews of The Boomer Burden, Chez Moi, and The Hearts of Horses.

It's All in a Name...

I received an email from Kelly at The Love Coach blog. She and Alisa have me listed in their 50 Best Chick Lit Blogs. I appreciate the shout-out, especially since I have 3 kids and don't read a ton of chick lit.  It also means someone found me in this tangled web o'blogs. And I am a chick with a blog called lit*chick, right?   Instead of graciously accepting a linky loo, I have to analyze...so

Thanks Love Coach Peeps. Maybe I should change my name to Book Coach. Then I can wear a whistle. And mete out penalties for reading fouls.

Words to Mouth

Carrie found me via goodreads, and I immediately checked out her blog - Words to Mouth. It is filled with author interviews and giveaways.

Recently, Grammar Girl's new book was highlighted in my Coming Soon section. Carrie interviewed GG and is giving away a copy of the book here. So go check that out. Afterwards, we can debate the supposably/supposedly thing. Ooh that supposably really bugs me. And to find out it's a real word goes against everything I believe what proper grammar should be. But that's okay - I'm no grammar girl.
