Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout
A novel, written in 13 stories, with the connection being the title character. She is not necessarily likeable but she's also not the narrator. Even though as a reader, you may not be as invested in the title character, it does serve to make you curious - you learn more about Olive (or less) with each chapter. And the stories are as much about the setting (a small town in Maine) and the people in and around Olive's life as they are about her. It may sound almost too clever, but the author has the skills to make it work and it is quiet, lovely, with a wry sense of humor. I enjoy novels where I am allowed a glimpse into lives that could be real. 4 stars
The End.
