The Gifted Gabaldon Sisters by Lorraine Lopez, 336 pages.
Four sisters grow up in Los Angeles without their mother under the watchful eye of their housekeeper Fermina. The four have been given "gifts" by Fermina - and when she dies, they start to figure out how to use them and discover more about the mystery of Fermina's past.
I found this to be a fairly quick read, and not what I expected. The story of Fermina is interwoven as field journal notes, which was kind of strange. And the gifts were in the background throughout the story as the girls fought, fell in love, and fought some more. It was not a typical sister story, my main problem was that I didn't identify with any of the four. None were particularly likeable and I didn't find the mystery very, well, mysterious. But, I struggle with magical realism, even lite. So while this wasn't one of my favorites, I'm glad I read it and I think a few of you will enjoy it.

The End.
Am supposed to be getting a copy of this myself. Curious, as I have seen another review similar to yours.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who didn't love this book.
